WIESHEU News 3 2010
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
First of all, I would like to express my warmest thanks to all our colleagues in production and materials management for their outstanding performance in Affalterbach and Wolfen. To put it simply: we have just achieved the best half-year results in the company’s history – great performance by sales and the entire company, but truly extraordinary performance in production, materials and service, too. Thanks to a high degree of clear vision, expertise and commitment, and not to mention overtime hours, we have managed to achieve an enormous increase in business volume while maintaining maximum delivery reliability. At the same time, we also had an opportunity to test the success of our new work agreement with extended working hours.
If we stay with materials management for a moment, we are again confronted with increasing supplier prices, an artificially created shortage of steel and electronic components and the recovery of the global economy, all of them have taken their toll. The coming weeks will show whether we can avoid or will be forced to implement price increases.
With regard to our new generation of ovens, 200x, the way ahead looks very positive. Setbacks along the way have not held us back, and the coming autumn trade fairs, such as the Intercool in Düsseldorf, the revamped Saxonyback fair in Dresden, the Polagra in Poznan and, of course, our ‘home fair’ at the südback in Stuttgart, all provide excellent opportunities for us to show and market these marvellous appliances. Our calendar also includes further trade fairs in Russia, the USA, France and Italy in the second half of the year.
We can now look back on very good half-year results and the outlook for the rest of the year is positive, too. Developments have been particularly positive in Germany and at Wiesheu Polska. In the case of our other commitments abroad, Russia rose again like a phoenix from the ashes after last year’s massive slump. Initial and significant successes are already being seen in France. Belgium is also developing well, as are Central and Eastern Europe, and particularly our operations in Turkey.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for their engagement and their contributions to the ongoing success of the company (no summer doldrums again this year) and join you in looking forward to an excellent second half of 2010.
Volker Groos
